For the first time since November 2021, Southwest Airlines® expanded its network with the inaugural trip between Orlando and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, taking flight Thursday, Feb. 5. Customers were treated to a USVI-centric celebration before departure in Orlando, in the air, and upon arrival at St. Thomas.

The airline began a peak-day service between Baltimore and St. Thomas on Saturday, Feb. 7 to complement the daily service between Orlando and St. Thomas. For March only, the Baltimore-St. Thomas route will operate daily.

With the addition of St. Thomas’ Cyril E. King Airport to the Southwest® network, the carrier now serves 118 airports across two U.S. territories, 42 U.S. states, and 11 countries. St. Thomas becomes the ninth island destination Southwest serves in the Atlantic Basin – joining Aruba, The Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Turks and Caicos Islands.

Excepting Cuba, which Southwest serves from Tampa only, each of those islands is connected to Baltimore and Orlando. Additionally, Southwest’s international service to Belize, Costa Rica, and Mexico is connected to both the Baltimore and Orlando gateways.

On January 27, 2026, Southwest began operating assigned and premium seating, including Extra Legroom seating. Its fleet also features free WiFi for Rapid Rewards® Members, thanks to T-Mobile.
