News / Southwest adds direct Las Vegas-Cancun route to summer 2026 schedule
First international service from Las Vegas

Southwest Airlines has announced its summer 2026 schedule that includes a direct flight to Cancun. As of June 4, the airline will once again offer direct Las Vegas to Cancun flights.
Southwest is boosting year-over-year frequencies on eight routes in Las Vegas, where Southwest offers nonstop service to 22 of the top 25 U.S. travel markets, while launching international service there for the first time.
On Friday, Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama announced the resumption of the direct flight between Las Vegas and Cancun, a connection that will resume operations starting June 4, 2026, just ahead of the World Cup, after four years of non-operation.
The new air link will allow for greater international connectivity for the Mexican Caribbean, strengthening the flow of visitors between the two top-tier tourist destinations, she said.
The route, which had been suspended for four years, will return nonstop, with a 175-seat 737-800 aircraft and will operate regularly on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, consolidating Cancun as one of the country’s main tourist and air transportation centers.
Mara Lezama emphasized that this new connection will contribute to strengthening tourism and economic activity in Quintana Roo, generating shared prosperity and well-being for the state’s residents.
