New ADO bus route to Cancun Hotel Zone

Travelers into Cancun International can now take an ADO bus from the airport to the Hotel Zone. The cost per one way is 140 pesos or around $8.00 USD per person. The additional route was announced Thursday in response to reports of ongoing and excessive taxi fare abuse.

ADO has always had a permanent place at the airport offering direct transportation to city centers such as Cancun and Playa del Carmen, however, the Cancun Hotel Zone was not on their list. As of March 20, however, travelers now have ADO as a ride option into the Hotel Zone.

On Thursday, Governor Mara Lezama announced the new transportation option, specifically a direct connection between the Cancun International Airport terminals and the Hotel Zone.

According to Governor Lezama, the new ADO connection passes through Terminals 2, 3 and 4, and then on to Plaza Fiesta in the Cancun Hotel Zone. This service costs 140 pesos and operates at the following times: 11:05 a.m., 1:05 p.m., 3:05 p.m., 5:05 p.m. and 7:05 p.m.

According to the ADO website, they are already set up for travelers to purchase their bus ticket online from the Cancun Airport terminals to the Cancun Hotel Zone stop at Plaza Fiesta shopping centre.

She says the new connection is a regulated service between Grupo Asur (the company that manages the airport) and Autobuses de Oriente (ADO).

In January of this year, a Mexico City man was charged 2,000 pesos for a taxi ride from the Cancun International Airport to the Cancun Hotel Zone. In April of 2024, a Canadian tourist was charged $1,000 USD to travel between Terminal 3 and 4 of the Cancun airport. That taxi driver was eventually arrested.
