News / Virgin Atlantic introduces fall menu for US flights
New healthy beverages, including kombucha, will be featured onboard for the first time
Virgin Atlantic will unveil a new inflight menu this week across all cabins in preparation for fall. The airline said its latest food and beverage offerings are modern and inclusive of more vegetarian and plant-based options.
With the rollout of the seasonal menu, passengers will also have the ability to pre-order their meals. Snacks onboard have also been upgraded with sweet and savory bites to appease travelers’ palates.
“Unmatched, contemporary and extensive”
Virgin Atlantic announced on Monday that it will launch its new autumn and winter menu on Wednesday, saying that the inflight food options will keep passengers cozy during their flight. From Upper Class, Premium, and Economy Class, travelers flying on US routes to the UK can indulge in various options.
Upper Class and premium cabins
A balance of British favorites and world flavors will be featured in the Upper Class. The carrier will offer a Stilton and walnut salad with bacon and date relish, grilled barbecue chicken with corn macaroni and cheese, and lobster, clam, and calamari paella with saffron and paprika rice.
Passengers looking for plant-based or vegetarian options will have three dishes to choose from:
- A golden beetroot tartare with candy beets, vegan Dijonnaise, toasted fava beans, and tarragon and sweetie drops
- Creamy shitake mushroom soup
- Four cheese agnolotti pasta with creamy tomato sauce, roaster butternut squash, kale, and shaved vegetarian parmesan
Breakfast A La Carte style will also served in Upper Class, allowing passengers to build their own breakfast with options such as yogurt, fresh fruit, pastries, and cereal. The airline will offer an express service for travelers who wish to sleep a bit longer, featuring a bacon roll or warm pastry served 40 minutes before landing. Wellbeing beverages - including sparkling tea, matcha, and kombucha - will also debut with the new menu and the latest selection of onboard wines.
In the Premium cabin, Virgin will serve chicken lasagne, sage and thyme pork stew, and panko-coated tofu with katsu vegetable curry. A British cheese plate featuring vintage cheddar, blacksticks blue, fig jelly, and grapes with olive oil and sea salt crackers will also be offered.
Economy cabin and new snacks
Chicken, leak, and tarragon casserole will be featured in Economy Class, along with creamy spinach and butternut pasta with cheddar and crackers and a plant-based chocolate pot. For Economy Delight (economy seats with extra legroom), Virgin will allow passengers to pre-select entrees, a service already available to Premium and Upper Class.
New snacks will also be offered across all cabins. Shortbread fingers, vanilla Oreos, and pretzels will be served in Economy, while chili crisps, peach-flavored gummies, a blueberry muffin bar, and more are in the Upper Class and Premium cabins. Virgin works alongside its catering partner, Gate Gourmet, to provide its inflight food and beverage offerings.
