Simple Flying
There is one domestic route alongside its long-haul network

Delta has 23 Airbus A330neos, the first of which arrived in May 2019 and the most recent in July 2023. All are the -900 variant and each has 281 seats in a four-class configuration. They are used on 20 routes this August.

Delta's A330neo use: a summary

This peak summer month, Delta's A330neos have 128 weekly departing flights, according to Cirium schedule information. Across the SkyTeam carrier's whole fleet, only the A330-200 has fewer flights, which is not surprising given it has just 11 of them. Delta's A330neos cover an average sector length of 4,605 miles (7,426 km), only surpassed by its A350-900s.

20 routes from seven US hubs

The A330neo network this month is broken down by airport as follows, with around one in four flights from JFK. It is notable that Detroit, obviously an important Delta hub, does not feature. Cirium informs that it last saw the type in December 2022.

17 routes are daily

Nearly all of Delta's A330neo flights are daily, as follows. The type is the only equipment used on 11 of the 17 daily services, indicated below with an *. Notice JFK to Athens. The A330-300 and 767-300ER operate from the US until August 19th, with the A330neo and 767-300ER being used from the 20th.

JFK to Los Angeles

While the schedule varies, the A330neo is most often on DL516, which leaves JFK at 12:00 and arrives in California at 14:45. Returning, DL763 (I like this flight number!) typically departs at 16:00 and returns at 00:40.

Generally but not always, the flights are operated by different A330neos. According to Flightradar24, DL516 was operated by N419DX on August 6th, which continued from Los Angeles to Paris. In contrast, N413DX operated JFK-Los Angeles-JFK on August 4th.

Less than daily services

The 17 routes mentioned above are joined by three that are sub-daily, all of which are exclusively by the A330neo in August:

  • Boston to Athens: four weekly
  • Boston to Tel Aviv: three weekly
  • Seattle to Shanghai: twice-weekly
