News / What American Airlines' new "Flagship Business Plus" fare offers passengers
American Airlines is about to launch an even more luxurious first class fare
American Airlines has recently announced that it intends to launch its exciting new "Flagship Business Plus" program this week. The program sees elements of the Flagship First service added to a business class ticket, for an enhanced travel experience. Let's take a look at what it involves.
Ground-based incentives
The passengers who select this new option will certainly note several differences in their travel experience. However, American Airlines is not currently offering any changes to the in-flight portion of their journey. Those who select this premium offering can expect to fly in a standard business class seat. The benefits of this option can be found not in the skies, but on the ground.
Having arrived at the airport, passengers are required to check-in and go through security alongside countless strangers. This process can take hours. However, those who chose the new Flagship Business Plus option will have a very different experience.
These passengers are allowed access to Flagship First Check-in. This provides passengers with a more personalized and comfortable check-in process. This also grants access to fast-track security screening. Note that this option is only available at LHR, MIA, ORD, LAX, and JFK airports.
With the hardest part behind them, these passengers can avoid the crowds by making their way into the exclusive Flagship First Dining Lounge. Again this is only offered at select airports, which include, DFW, JFK, and MIA.
Upon reaching their destination, the passengers receive a pleasant reminder that they flew the new "Flagship Business Plus" option when they pick up their third free checked bag from the baggage claim.
Admission fee
American Airlines has released examples of what this new fare may look like to a prospective buyer. We can see here that the airline plans to incorporate a $400 up-charge on one-way tickets over the more typical "Flagship Business" option. Passengers will have to weigh the pros and cons of this new flight option to determine for themselves if the additional expenses are worth it.
High expectations
For American Airlines this new fare offering appears to make a lot of sense. During the pandemic, airline travel came under heavy restrictions all around the globe. One of the first things that became regulated were public spaces which include lounges. With travel restrictions easing, airlines have been able to reutilize many of their previously inoperative lounges as well as other public areas.
Including access to both the Flagship First Dining Lounge and Flagship First Check-In for those who purchase this new fare seems only logical. Airlines are always trying to find a way to increase profits while minimizing costs. And what better way than to utilize valuable assets that they already possess?
With hopes of securing more capital, American Airlines will soon offer their new "Flagship Business Plus" fare to future passengers. The primary benefits that come with this enhanced travel package include:
- Access to Flagship First check-in, allowing them to skip the crowds for a more personalized check-in experience accompanied by fast-track access through security
- Access to the exclusive Flagship First Dining Lounge
- A third checked bag is included with the cost of the ticket
Soon this new business plan will be implemented and passengers will give American Airlines their answer whether they want and are willing to pay extra for these services.
