JetBlue and LOT have entered into a mutually beneficial interline agreement

LOT Polish Airlines has announced that it has entered into an interline agreement with US carrier JetBlue. This will give LOT passengers convenient access to JetBlue's expansive network. Passengers traveling from Poland can now book a flight to any of JetBlue's destinations through LOT's website, allowing them to have all connecting flights on one ticket despite transitioning between airlines.

Beneficial agreement

The agreement will help LOT by allowing it to offer over 100 additional destinations to its customers. JetBlue will benefit from this as LOT will help fill its planes with additional passengers. JetBlue will also help fill LOT's seats on flights from the US to Europe. LOT has shared its excitement about working with JetBlue in this agreement. It believes the added routes will reward its existing customers while attracting new ones.

The Chief Commercial Officer of LOT Polish Airlines, Michal Fijol, shared the company's aspiration and excitement for this partnership. Fijol said,

"We are excited about this new interline agreement with JetBlue Airways, as it allows us to offer our passengers much more flight options in North America.

"They can book through-fares to their final destination; they also only need one ticket, and they can, of course, check through their baggage to their final destination."

Fijol went on to share that the agreement will benefit Business and leisure travelers alike. Fijol stated,

"We have been flying from Warsaw to the United States for 50 years and see a continuously high demand from Poland as well as from numerous other European countries and now even from India for these services. In addition to tourists, many business travellers book our flights to the US, as well as a large number of people who want to visit their families or friends on the other side of the Atlantic."

Additional destinations

LOT has flown to the US for decades, servicing some of its largest cities. It currently operates 35 flights per week to the US, all of which are being flown from the company's global hub at Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) on its cherished Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The US cities it services are Chicago, Miami, New York, and Los Angeles. Through JetBlue's network, passengers will have access to dozens of additional cities across the US.

Out of all the destinations JetBlue offers, LOT expects its passengers to primarily take advantage of flights to Las Vegas, Boston, Orlando, San Francisco, and Seattle. JetBlue also provides flights to the Caribbean, of which LOT anticipates that flights to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico will be fan favorites.

LOT previously operated flights to the US from its hub in Budapest, Hungary. However, it has not operated any of these flights since the pandemic began. It recently announced plans to reopen all previously serviced routes between the US and Hungary beginning summer of 2023. These flights will also be a part of the interline agreement allowing even more of LOT's passengers to take advantage of the additional North American destinations.
