News / LATAM announces new Santiago-Orlando Boeing 787 route
The new route will provide passengers with more connectivity options, allowing them to access over 300 destinations in the Americas
LATAM Airlines Group has announced a new route from Santiago, Chile, to Orlando, Florida. Seasonal services will launch on June 16.
Adios Santiago, hola Orlando
Since announcing a joint-venture agreement with Delta Air Lines in 2022, the LATAM Airlines Group has launched six new routes to the United States, including nonstop service from São Paulo-Guarulhos to Los Angeles International Airport. The two airlines have coordinated their expansion between the US and Latin America to optimize their schedules and offer passengers the best connections. The latest route connects LATAM Chile’s home at Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport in Santiago to Orlando International Airport.
Florida is an extremely important entry point for Latin Americans flying to the United States, with nearly 20 million seats available between the two regions in 2023. American Airlines had the largest market share last year due to its hub at Miami International Airport. With a joint partnership between LATAM and Delta, the two aim to increase their connectivity.
From June 16 to September 28, LATAM Chile will fly twice weekly from Santiago to Orlando, taking advantage of summer in the northern hemisphere and offering a warm escape from the cold Chilean winter. According to LATAM, Orlando is already one of Chile’s favorite destinations during the winter, especially because of its theme parks.
The flights will operate on the following schedule:
Flight number | Origin | Destination | Departure | Arrival |
AM90 | Santiago | Orlando | 22:25 | 07:00 +1 |
AM90 | Orlando | Santiago | 11:15 | 20:15 |
The airline highlighted that Brazilians looking to go to Orlando can also connect to its flight.
Additional increases
In October, LATAM Peru launched a route from Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima to Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport. This month, the carrier is operating three weekly flights between the two cities, deploying its 221-seat Boeing 767-300s. LATAM’s service complements Delta’s daily Airbus A350-900 service. Passengers flying Delta are offered three cabins of service, Delta One, Premium Economy, and Economy, with the A350 capable of carrying 339 passengers.
Also in October, LATAM launched flights from Medellin, Colombia, to Miami, Florida. LATAM became the third carrier to launch operations between the two cities, competing with avianca and American Airlines. Delta launched a new Colombia route from Atlanta to Cartagena and operates three weekly flights with its Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Last June, Delta announced it would increase operations on its Atlanta-Bogota route from two to three daily flights.
Within one year of the joint-venture launch, LATAM grew its presence in Miami by 10%, and Delta increased service to several LATAM hubs by 40-50%.
