After a two-year absence, Aer Lingus returns to LAX

Irish airline Aer Lingus resumed its nonstop service to Los Angeles for the first time since March 2020. The recommencement of the route comes at a perfect time, as it is spring and summer is nearing in the Northern Hemisphere. Many American travelers will hop across the pond to visit the Irish city and other European destinations. Without a doubt, many will travel from Ireland to the sunny state of California.

Aer Lingus is flying nonstop to the City of Angels

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and border closings, Aer Lingus has not serviced Los Angeles. For some time, international travel seemed improbable and was even prohibited between many countries. After more than two years, passengers looking to travel between Los Angeles and Dublin will have access to daily, nonstop service.

DUB-LAX is the latest of Aer Lingus' transatlantic routes to resume and the airline's third destination on the west coast of the United States. The Irish airline resumed nonstop service to San Francisco on February 25 and plans to resume nonstop service to Seattle on July 07. Aer Lingus is the only airline to offer nonstop service between Ireland and the west coast of the United States. Tickets start at approximately $341 each way if purchased as a roundtrip ticket and include taxes and charges.

To celebrate the route's return, DUB-LAX, Aer Lingus has created a music playlist of chill music that lasts the duration of the nonstop flight. According to a statement from the airline, the playlist can be found on Air Lingus' Spotify profile, but at the time of this story's publication, I could not locate the playlist. The story will be updated once we have a Spotify link.

Speaking about the recommencement of nonstop service to LAX, Susanna Carberry, Chief Customer Officer at Aer Lingus, said, “We are delighted to be resuming our Los Angeles route for the first time since March 2020 and reuniting friends, family and businesses. Los Angeles is a hugely popular and important route for Aer Lingus and now with daily connections to both Los Angeles and San Francisco, Aer Lingus are the only carrier connecting customers to the West Coast of USA reaffirming our commitment to building our transatlantic connections.’’

Additional transatlantic Air Lingus routes

Last month, Aer Lingus announced, "We’re coming to America! Further Direct Flights to North America this Summer with Aer Lingus." The airline announced that it would be resuming multiple routes, which it had stopped serving in March 2020. Nonstop service to Philadelphia resumed on April 07, Los Angeles resumed today, and Seattle will resume on the 7th of July.

In addition to the routes which the Irish airline is resuming, other routes will see increased service. Air Lingus will increase to two flights daily from Dublin, five times a week, and a second flight to the capital of the United States, Washington D.C. The airline also operates a few routes from Shannon, including New York and Boston.
