News / Frontier Airlines launches 5 routes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport
The Denver-based ultra-low-cost-carrier will now offer 24 nonstop flights for Phoenix passengers
Frontier Airlines is launching five new nonstop routes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The Denver-based ultra-low-cost carrier will fly from the Arizona capital to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Kansas City International Airport, Nashville International Airport January 5th, and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and Indianapolis International Airport tomorrow.
Continuing to expand in the Arizona desert
In November 2022, Frontier opened a new crew base in Phoenix and launched six new routes. January 5th, the airline launched three new routes, and another two will begin tomorrow. With the newly commenced services, Frontier will offer its passengers 24 nonstop options from the Arizona desert.
The schedule of the new routes will increase after mid-February, likely because Phoenix is hosting this year's NFL Superbowl, as is as follows:

Daniel Shurz, Senior Vice President Of Commercial at Frontier Airlines, said,
"Frontier is proud of our robust operation in Phoenix and thrilled to add these exciting destinations to our growing roster of PHX flights. Our new crew base at PHX is enabling us to provide more Arizonans ‘Low Fares Done Right’ to an expanding list of destinations."
PHX crew base
The opening of a crew base in Phoenix was the carrier's 11th, with a 12th opening at Dallas Fort-Worth International Airport in May. When the new PHX base was announced, Frontier estimated that almost 500 people would be employed within the first year, including 180 pilots and 275 flight attendants. The recent opening will add an estimated $120 million in wages to the local economy.
Kate Gallego, Mayor of Phoenix, said the following when Frontier made its announcement,
“I am pleased to see this particular airline continuing to expand services out of Phoenix. Frontier’s work to set a new greener standard for travel is parallel to the City of Phoenix Aviation Department’s decades-long commitment to sustainability. We are proud of partners like Frontier that not only foster economic growth for our city but are also dedicated to lessening their environmental impact.”
Recent Frontier Airlines news
In late November, Frontier announced that it was expanding its unlimited flight pass, 'GoWild!' to children. Through the 'GoWild!' pass, passengers can hop on an unlimited number of flights for a fixed annual cost. For domestic travel, passengers can confirm flights the day before and up to ten days early for international travel.
Currently, the airline charges $1,999 for the popular subscription but offered a significant discount when it lowered the price to $799 in late November. Pass holders may begin taking advantage of the benefits as of May 2 and for an entire year after. Though the pass seems like an excellent deal, it is important to note that the $2,000 fee only covers the cost of base fares and no additional fees such as departure taxes and seat selection.
