News / Frontier Airlines' All You Can Fly Pass just got $200 cheaper
Frontier is offering a shortened variant of its all-you-can-fly pass at a reduced rate to boost sales
Frontier Airlines has recently announced that its new all-you-can-fly pass, coined the GoWild! Pass, will be available for the next several months at a discounted rate. The pass will allow travelers to book as many flights as they choose. The airline hopes the reduced fare will prompt higher pass sales. Pass availability is limited, and is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Promotional fare
This past November, Frontier shared that the cost of the GoWild! Pass would be $599 per passenger. The pass would give the passenger unlimited flights for 12 months with the airline. However, the new promotional offering, as reveled this week, costs just $399.
The downside is the lifespan of this pass is much shorter, as it will only be valid from May 2nd to September 30th. This specific pass will be known as the GoWild! Summer Pass. The airline hopes the reduced rate will significantly boost sales of its unique flight pass.
The airline has chosen to offer the summer-only pass as a separate offering for a cheaper rate because it anticipates that pass users will use it primarily during the summer months, given it is the busiest travel season. The pass is now available for purchase on the airline's website. It hopes travelers will see this as a perfect opportunity to save on airfare while traveling across North America.
With the pass, passengers can book any domestic or international flight serviced by the airline. They will need to pay $0.01 for each flight and the accompanying fees and taxes. The pass will only cover airfare and does not cover anything extra such as luggage fees or seating assignments.
All flights must be booked through Frontier's website, meaning no third-party bookings will be included. Passengers can book domestic flights the day of or before the flight departure. International flights may be booked up to 10 days before departure.
Passengers using the pass may only book a flight if space is available, as the offering operates similarly to standby flying. It's a perfect option for someone who regularly travels, particularly those who travel light, because if all they need is a backpack they will not have to pay any luggage fees. The Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at Frontier Airlines, Daniel Shurz, stated,
"Everyone loves summer vacation and, with the new GoWild! Summer Pass, you can enjoy even more of what you love. For people with flexible schedules, this is a terrific opportunity to have a truly epic summer and then some, soaking up rays on the beach, exploring national parks and visiting new cities."
Expanding network
The GoWild! Pass and GoWild! Summer Passes have come as the airline is working on expanding its operations. Around the same time that Frontier launched its GoWild! pass offering last year, the airline opened a crew base at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). With this new base, it has added several new routes, expanding its influence in the southwestern US. But the expansion has not been limited to the southwest as, just this week, the airline launched eight new routes to Puerto Rico.
With this ever-expanding network, Frontier is opening more opportunities for pass holders to visit new cities conveniently. Frontier hopes the pass will help fill up empty seats on flights which will likely help boost the profitability of existing and newly opened routes.
