News / Delta Air Lines adds a third daily flight between New York & Paris
It means that JFK-CDG has 11x daily flights this summer, pretty much a record
Delta is increasing New York JFK to Paris CDG from 2x to 3x daily this summer. It is part of the SkyTeam member's latest network expansion, joining the likes of the new Los Angeles-Auckland, the return of Atlanta-Nice, and more. When added to other Air France, American, and Norse Atlantic on CDG-JFK, the airport pair will have up to 11x daily flights, a level only seen on nine occasions in 2015, effectively making it a record.
And that is before JetBlue puts on sale its new Paris service. Indeed, when writing, it is unclear if Delta's increased frequency is in response to new entrants Norse and JetBlue or because fellow SkyTeam airline Air France plans to reduce flights. It comes as London Heathrow-Los Angeles grows to a record 12x daily.
Delta grows JFK-CDG to 3x daily
Delta has served JFK-CDG since 1997. From the end of this coming May, in time for the peak summer with higher demand and fares, Delta will have triple-daily flights on the route. That is its highest-ever frequency on the 3,635-mile (5,849km) airport pair.
While interspersed with the A330-300, the route will primarily use 238-seat 767-400ERs, which have 34 Delta One seats; 20 in Premium Select, 28 in Delta Comfort+, and 156 in Main Cabin. Its service is scheduled as follows, with all times local:
- JFK-CDG: DL262, 18:30-08:00 (+1) (7h 30m block time)
- JFK-CDG: DL266, 20:30-10:00 (+1) (7h 30m) ← new
- JFK-CDG: DL264, 22:30-12:00 (+1) (7h 30m)
- CDG-JFK: DL263, 11:30-13:45 (8h 15m)
- CDG-JFK: DL265, 14:30-16:50 (8h 20m)
- CDG-JFK: DL267, 17:30-19:55 (8h 25m) ← new

That makes 11x daily JFK-CDG – for now
When writing on January 23rd and before JetBlue's coming service is put on sale, 11x daily flights are planned. Alongside Delta's 3x daily is Air France (6x), Norse (1x), and American (1x). It means that SkyTeam controls 82% of this significant US-Europe market. In contrast, the oneworld alliance (BA and American) has 'just' (!) 55% of JFK-Heathrow.
On randomly chosen July 18th, the schedule of JFK-CDG is as follows, organized by departure time. SkyTeam now has almost hourly departures between 16:30 and 23:30. The exception is 19:30:
- 00:30-14:05: Norse, N0302; 787-9
- 16:30-05:50 (+1): Air France; AF23; 777-300ER
- 17:30-06:50 (+1): Air France; AF15; 777-300ER
- 17:30-06:55 (+1): American; AA44; 777-200ER
- 18:30-08:00 (+1): Air France; AF7; 777-300ER
- 18:30-08:00 (+1): Delta; DL262; 767-400ER
- 20:30-10:00 (+1): Delta; DL266; 767-400ER ← new
- 21:30-11:00 (+1): Air France; AF11; 777-300ER
- 22:30-12:00 (+1): Delta; DL264; 767-400ER
- 23:30-12:55 (+1): Air France; AF17; 777-200ER
- 23:55-13:20 (+1): Air France; AF9; 777-200ER
16x daily at the city level
Of course, the city-level market is not only about CDG-JFK. There are also flights from Paris Orly, while Newark also serves Greater NYC. Air France serves CDG-Newark (1x daily; mainly using the 787-9), while United has Newark-CDG (2x daily; 777-200, 787-10).
Then there's La Compagnie on Orly-Newark (1x daily; A321), alongside french bee (1x daily; A350-900). However, Orly has lost its JFK link, which Air France served until October 2022.
