News / Condor customers can now book 70 Alaska Airlines routes across the United States
The airline has been one of Alaska’s global partners for over six years
Condor Airlines and Alaska Airlines are strengthening their partnership, giving international passengers more access to Alaska’s US route network. The Seattle-based airline announced the update to the bilateral codeshare agreement on Monday.
The two airlines have been partners since March 2017, allowing Condor’s passengers to book flights to Alaska’s gateway cities within the US and travelers on Alaska to book flights to Europe. Condor is also expanding its footprint across the US, with service to two new destinations set to begin next year.
Expanding the codeshare
A codeshare agreement famously allows each respective airline to sell seats on another’s, with a signifying code on the flights. They are designed to provide a more seamless travel and booking experience for passengers across both airlines, as they can purchase connecting flights under one reservation. Then, during travel, the ticketing, check-in, boarding, and checked baggage process is streamlined.
Condor began marketing and selling more than 70 Alaska-operated routes last week. Nat Pieper, Alaska’s Senior Vice President of Fleet, Finance, and Alliances, spoke about the carrier’s partnership with the German carrier.
“We continue to bolster our international partner portfolio, giving our guests convenient access to more of the globe. Condor provides a key link with its nonstops from Alaska's gateway cities to Europe and beyond. We look forward to expanding our codeshare with Condor to destinations beyond Frankfurt in the near future.”
Alaska started selling and marketing Condor’s Frankfurt-bound flights from its 12 gateway cities in the US, including key destinations such as Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Anchorage this past summer. According to the airline, the flights are available for purchase on its website.
A new aircraft for long-haul flights
This comes as Condor welcomed the Airbus A330neo to its fleet earlier this year. The aircraft is known for having the quietest cabin in the world compared to other aircraft of its size. The carrier operates the aircraft between Germany and the US, offering 310 seats across a three-class configuration of business, premium economy, and economy.
Condor launched its new business class product on the plane, featuring lie-flat seats with a larger bed and increased legroom. In addition, the airline offers a gourmet menu and beverage service on the long-haul flights. In premium economy, passengers can enjoy additional legroom and footrests to stretch out, along with meal service and complimentary beverages.
Throughout the entire cabin, all travelers in all classes can stay entertained with a state-of-the-art inflight entertainment system equipped with 4K seatback monitors and Bluetooth connectivity for personal wireless headphones. Additionally, generous storage space accommodates passengers’ personal belongings.
Growing its fleet and US route network
Last month, Condor ordered three more A330neos that are expected to join its fleet in 2026 and 2027. Currently, the airline has 10 of the new fuel-efficient aircraft, which will reportedly fly to more than half of its long-haul destinations this winter. By spring of next year, the airline expects to operate 16 A330neos, entirely replacing its current Boeing 767-300ER fleet.
The airline is also expanding to new destinations in the US, announcing new nonstop service from its Frankfurt hub to Miami and San Antonio will take flight in May 2024.
