The busy summer season witnesses network expansion from airlines across the globe. While many of these routes stretch beyond the summer months, some are seasonal that cater to a specific travel demand. One such route is between Jacksonville and Westchester County, New York, by Breeze Airways, which is making a return.

Jacksonville to Westchester County flight returns

Budget airline Breeze Airways has added several new routes to its summer schedule, including the Jacksonville to Westchester County service, which has made a seasonal return after September 2023.

The flight started on June 22 as passengers increasingly take to the skies during the busy summer months. The carrier operates this route using its Embraer E190 aircraft twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Breeze operates several flights out of Jacksonville International Airport. According to data from Cirium, an aviation analytics company, Breeze Airways has more than 270 scheduled flights to and from the airport in July. Apart from Westchester County, the airline also connects Jacksonville with Columbus, Ohio; White Plains, New York; Las Vegas, Nevada; Los Angeles, California; and Norfolk, Virginia, among many other destinations.

Summer expansion

Jacksonville to Westchester County is one of several routes that Breeze Airways has started in recent days. In April, the airline announced five new routes, two seasonal resumptions, and two route frequency increases.

Akron/Canton, Ohio, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Westchester County-New York have received new nonstop service to Myrtle Beach, Florida. Westchester County is also seeing a new service to Portland, Maine, and the return of the popular seasonal service to both Norfolk and Jacksonville.

Two new routes have also expanded frequencies, with Hartford-Myrtle Beach, increasing from 3x to 5x weekly from June 21, and Westchester-Raleigh/Durham increasing from twice to thrice weekly from June 26.

Ending scheduled E190 and E195 services

The current Jacksonville to Westchester County flight uses one of Breeze’s Embraer E190 aircraft. But the airline will soon replace its Embraer E190 family of planes from regularly scheduled service.

As reported by Simple Flying earlier this year, Breeze expects the regional jets will be fully replaced by its Airbus A220-300 fleet by the end of this summer.

But the E190s and E195s aren’t retiring from the airline’s fleet; they will instead carry out the airline’s charter operations. Breeze is planning to eventually phase out the Embraer planes in favor of the newer fuel-efficient Airbus A220 aircraft.

Breeze is one of the largest A220 customers and continues to add the type to its ever-expanding fleet. According to ch-aviation, it has 25 A220s in its fleet, with 67 more to come.
