As reported by NBC DFW, American Airlines is set to operate its most extensive summer schedule of flights out of its home base, Dallas Fort Worth Airport. It will surpass its pre-pandemic numbers with more than 97,000 flights scheduled between May 17 and September 3.

DFW: the hub that works for the American carrier

American Airlines Senior DFW Hub Operations Vice President, Jim Moses, noted the success of the DFW hub, and the exemplary operation reliability the airline has enjoyed in the past year. 

According to recent reports, American Airlines is now running the most reliable operation in its history. In 2023, the airline canceled its fewest flights ever and achieved its best results for on-time departures and arrivals since 2017. Additionally, American Airlines has improved its baggage handling by 15% compared to 2022.

A network expansion is on the way for AA

Preparations for the busy summer began last winter when American announced it would launch the first-ever daily service between DFW and Redmond, Oregon (RDM). This would become the airline's third nonstop destination in Oregon from DFW, after Portland (PDX) and Eugene (EUG).

Across the USA, the airline will increase service to give customers access to popular outdoor getaways, including more seats to Santa Rosa, California (STS) and Traverse City, Michigan (TVC), and resuming summer service to St. George, Utah (SGU). It will also continue to operate daily service to Albany, New York (ALB).

In the same release, American Airlines announced the expansion of its already extensive network of international destinations out of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).

As part of this expansion, American Airlines will introduce a new daily flight to Barcelona, Spain (BCN) starting in June of this year. Additionally, twice-daily service to Tulum, Mexico (TQO) commenced in March, marking another welcome destination for American Airlines' DFW passengers.

With the new destinations added, American Airlines will offer nonstop international service to a total of 55 destinations from DFW next summer. It will connect travelers to 26 countries across the globe. It's impressive growth from the world's largest carrier by fleet size, and gives Texans even more reasons to fly.
