United Airlines unveils Boeing 737 MAX 8 for Guam operations, featuring seatback entertainment, Wi-Fi, and enhanced comfort on 15 Pacific routes by December 2026

United Airlines has officially unveiled its first Guam-based Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft during a special event in Guam, marking a significant upgrade to the carrier's Pacific network infrastructure.
The airline plans to replace its current fleet of ten Boeing 737-800 aircraft serving Guam with ten modern 737 MAX 8 aircraft by the end of 2026, bringing enhanced comfort, connectivity, and reliability to customers traveling throughout the Pacific region.
Modern Interior and Premium Features
Each 737 MAX 8 will feature United's signature interior with substantial upgrades over the existing fleet:
Entertainment and Connectivity:
- Seatback entertainment screens in every seat
- 13-inch high-definition screens in First Class
- 10-inch HD screens in United Economy
- Wireless Bluetooth connectivity throughout the cabin
- Wi-Fi available for purchase
- Free Starlink Wi-Fi for MileagePlus members (rollout by end of 2027)
Passenger Comfort:
- Larger overhead bins
- Increased extra-legroom seating options
- Modern LED lighting creating a bright, contemporary cabin atmosphere
- USB charge ports at every seat
- Accessibility features for passengers with hearing or visual disabilities
Special Capabilities:
- Front rows of Economy class can be reconfigured to accommodate medical stretchers for medevac transport, serving the region's healthcare needs
Two United 737 MAX 8 aircraft are already operating from Guam, providing service throughout United's system.

Rollout Schedule
April 30:
- Selected Guam to Tokyo-Narita (NRT) flights begin 737 MAX 8 service
- Tokyo-Narita (NRT) to Ulaanbaatar (UBN) service begins
May 2:
- Tokyo-Narita (NRT) to Koror (ROR) service begins
Late August:
- All Guam to Tokyo-Narita flights operated with 737 MAX 8
- All United narrowbody flights from Tokyo-Narita operated with 737 MAX 8
- All flights from Saipan (SPN) and Yap (YAP) operated with 737 MAX 8
December 2026:
- All United narrowbody flights from Guam, including the iconic Island Hopper service, operated with 737 MAX 8 aircraft

Exclusive Partnerships:
- Full seasons of Apple TV+ hits including award-winning shows like Severance, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Slow Horses, and Silo—available free on seatback screens and the United app
- First-of-its-kind Spotify collaboration delivering 450+ hours of audiobook and video podcast content free of charge
Customers can preview available content before their flight, allowing them to plan their entertainment experience in advance.

The Guam-based 737 MAX 8 fleet will feature:

- United First: Up to 14 seats
- USB charge ports: Available at every seat
- Bluetooth technology: Throughout the cabin for wireless headphone connectivity
