American Airlines
American Airlines thanked Congress for approving the American Rescue Plan

In a statement on March 10, American’s Chairman and CEO Doug Parker and President Robert Isom thanked Congress for approving the American Rescue Plan, which includes additional funding for the Payroll Support Program (PSP).

Since the pandemic began one year ago, Congress has repeatedly stepped up to support our team members and keep critical airline infrastructure in place. That is once again the case with today’s passage of the American Rescue Plan, and we are forever grateful.

By continuing to fund the Payroll Support Program, Congress has saved thousands of airline jobs, preserved the livelihoods of our hard-working team members and helped position the industry to play a central role in the nation’s recovery from COVID-19. Lawmakers from both parties have backed legislation that recognizes the dedication of airline professionals and the importance of the essential work they do. With this phenomenal bipartisan support comes a responsibility to serve, and the people of American Airlines are excited to accept that responsibility. We are ready to welcome our customers back to the skies as vaccines are distributed and demand for air travel increases.

There is much work left to do before we can all put the pandemic behind us, but with today’s news and the steady progress being made against the virus, we have a hopeful eye on the horizon.
