Travel & Selling Tips / Soak up culture in these 7 North American cities in 2022
Plan on festive historic anniversaries, the reopening of museums, theaters & more next year
Excited to hit the road and soak up some culture in 2022? Several museums, theaters, concert venues, and cultural experiences are set to reopen in major North American cities in the coming year, including locations in New York City, Los Angeles, Key West, Fla., and more. A handful of popular tourist destinations are also planning milestone anniversary celebrations in 2022 — giving you plenty of new reasons to revisit some of your favorite places.
Here are just seven North American destinations you may want to keep your eye on for 2022 vacations.
Explore the Ahmanson Theatre, Underground Museum & More in Los Angeles
This culture-filled city — which is experiencing its largest downtown development boom in nearly a century — will celebrate the reopening of the Underground Museum after a 20-month closure. The artistic hub operates out of four converted storefronts in the Arlington Heights neighborhood and brings major artistic opportunities — plus yoga and meditation classes — to visitors for free. The footlights will again shine at the Ahmanson Theatre, with performances beginning Jan. 16, 2022. And the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the largest devoted to exploring the art and science of movies and moviemaking, just recently reopened. Its limited Hayao Miyazaki exhibit will run through June 5, 2022.
Also making its debut in spring 2022 is the Conrad Los Angeles, which is part of Related Companies’ mixed-use development, The Grand LA, in downtown Los Angeles and offers convenient access to some of the most prominent cultural venues in the city. Designed by Architect Frank Gehry, the hotel will offer rooms with a bold and contemporary design featuring floor-to-ceiling windows; locally-inspired culinary experiences; a rejuvenating spa, private pool deck and much more. The 28-story hotel will also offer views of one of Gehry’s other architectural wonders, the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Explore the New Museum of Broadway in New York City
The highly anticipated Museum of Broadway will make its grand debut in summer 2022, offering visitors the chance to walk through a timeline of Broadway milestone moments, beloved shows — and even learn about the making of a Broadway show. Tickets are also already on sale for the immersive Netflix Stranger Things: The Experience, which will debut in May 2022. It will offer a Hawkins Lab Immersive Experience (where strange things are happening once again), a Mix-Tape Area for fun photo ops, and themed food and beverage.
While in town, check out the 1,878-room New York Hilton Midtown, which reopened in October, or Conrad New York Downtown, where families can add on the Little Kid Big City adventure kit, or a self-guided kid-friendly NYC tour with a prize upon completion.
Listen to Live Music in Las Vegas
According to a recent study by Hilton, nearly a quarter of Americans ranked Las Vegas as their top post-pandemic destination — and 2022 will be a great time for music lovers to visit, as a lineup of new top-tier artists have already announced residencies for the coming year.
