News / Gastronomy, a hallmark of the Riviera Nayarit
The destination will feature prominently in the XXVI International Gourmet Festival taking place from November 12 to 20, 2021, in Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit, and Tepic
The Riviera Nayarit’s gastronomy will be a highlight of the 2021 Gourmet International Festival, “The Greatest Gourmet Tradition of Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit, and Tepic.” The event will take place from November 12 to 20 in these three meeting points for lovers of good food.
This XXVI edition of the event founded by internationally renowned chef Thierry Blouet has generated great expectations after the Covid-19 pandemic suspended the event last year. The sponsors and participating restaurants rescued this year’s event.
This year there are ten Nayarit restaurants participating, eight of these located in the Riviera Nayarit and two in the city of Tepic: Carolina from The St. Regis Punta Mita hotel; Divum Signature Gourmet from Marival Armony hotel; Hector’s Kitchen Punta de Mita; Loma 42 Bahía; Pacifico Beach Club Punta Mita; Spice Market from W Punta de Mita hotel; Tukipa from Imanta Resorts hotel; Tuna Blanca by Café des Artistes; Emiliano Comida y Vino; and Loma 42 Tepic.
Teamwork pays off
Jesús Carmona, president of the Banderas Bay Hotel and Motel Association and the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau, congratulated the founder of #FGI26 for his perseverance, passion, and deep love for this region.
“Gastronomy is synonymous with sharing, delighting the soul through food, socializing with the people we care about. Twenty-six years may not seem long, but it’s a lifetime. We are all here, supporting your work, and this festival is further proof that working together pays off. We must not lose focus; we must all continue to work together,” he said.
The fact that travelers come to the Riviera Nayarit to experience its cuisine, in addition to its natural attractions, infrastructure, and services, raises the destination’s competitiveness. It encourages us to continue innovating in the quest for new flavors without losing the essence of Nayarit’s cuisine.
“Events like the International Gourmet Festival represent an important economic benefit for the Riviera Nayarit and the state of Nayarit, in addition to widespread publicity in the local, national and international media,” he said.

Event Details
Thierry Blouet, the founder of the IGF, pointed out that this is already one of the most outstanding culinary events in Mexico, and boosts the international promotion of Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit, and Tepic.
The chef noted that this year’s program is exciting and, as is already a tradition, will represent a fusion of local chefs’ experience and dishes with the expertise and recipes of guest chefs. This combination enriches their offerings to the diners.
Overall, there will be 27 participating restaurants and 29 guest chefs, in addition to the local ones. The guest chefs will be in charge of the kitchen of one of the participating restaurants during the ten days of the event. They will implement a special menu of their creation, in addition to the venue’s traditional menu.
