G Adventures
Addition to the 'G for Good' umbrella

G Adventures has unveiled what it’s calling an industry-first with its new ‘Ripple Score’, an evaluation score for its trips indicating what percentage of a tour’s local expenditure remains in the local economy.

G Adventures’ ‘G for Good’ social enterprise umbrella includes the company’s suite of responsible travel guidelines aimed at:

• Protecting children, animals and Indigenous peoples’ rights
• Alleviating poverty
• Empowering women and disadvantaged youth
• Celebrating Indigenous cultures

The Ripple Score

The average Ripple Score across its 640 scored trips is 93, meaning that 93% of the money spent in-destination across these tours is spent with locally-owned businesses, benefitting local people.

The Ripple Score is a way for the company to provide transparency for its travellers, and to drive the travel industry forward in terms of accountability. As a result of the survey, 640 of G Adventures’ approximately 700 trips have been given a Ripple Score.

These scores now appear alongside each trip on the G Adventures website. They will also be published in G Adventures’ 2019 brochures.
