June 22 - The resort reopenings keep on coming, with several major brands in Sun destinations announcing the resumption of operations following temporary closures due to COVID-19.

Atlantis Paradise Island, Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun, Half Moon, Spice Island Beach Resort, and Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve have all either recently reopened or will be reopening its doors to international travellers as an increasing number of destinations continue to loosen lockdown measures.

Atlantis Paradise Island

In response to The Bahamas’ plans to reopen its borders on July 1, the iconic resort property on Paradise Island in The Bahamas will welcome back guests to The Royal and Harborside Resort beginning July 17, and to The Cove on July 14. Most of Atlantis’ amenities will be open, including the Atlantis Casino, 20 indoor and outdoor dining outlets, beaches, pools, non-motorized sports, golf, tennis, fitness centre, Mandara Spa, Aquaventure slides, Dolphin Cay, and The Dig.

In preparation of its reopening and in partnership with the Cleveland Clinic, the resort has introduced the ‘Atlantis Clean & Safe Promise’, a comprehensive list of hotel cleaning practices and workplace protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19. These include express check-ins via smartphones, physical distancing of at least six feet, increased frequency of deep cleanings using EPA-registered, hospital-grade disinfectants, mandatory masks and daily health screenings for staff members, and more. Atlantis has also announced four new offers that include air and hotel packages, complimentary nights and resort credits. Half Moon

Jamaica’s iconic Half Moon is now welcoming international travellers to its Rose Hall Villas as part of the island’s reopening plans. The villas, located 15 minutes from Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, are available as 5-, 6- and 7-bedroom accommodations, each featuring a living and dining room, outdoor living space and a private pool. Each villa also comes with a butler, a housekeeper and cook. Check-in services are available directly at each villa, while guests can also pre-stock groceries in advance.

The resort’s ‘Stay More, Save More’ promotion allows guests to save up to 30% off the best available rate. This promotion is available thorugh Sept. 30, 2020, with no required minimum stay, and features flexible payment and cancellation policies.

Now Sapphire Riviera Maya

AMResorts has announced that the newly renovated Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun, located in Puerto Morelos, has officially reopened, welcoming its first guests on June 15. The resort, along with the entire AMResorts portfolio, has implemented the ‘CleanComplete Verification’ program, which includes express checkout service, increased sanitation and social distancing measures, a new verification process to ensure rooms meet the highest hygiene standards, as well as new staff positions to oversee health and safety.

Spice Island Beach Resort

Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada is eyeing a Nov. 1, 2020 reopening with new safety protocols in place. These include a new Hygiene Manager who’ll be responsible for administering and monitoring daily temperature checks of all employees as well as other compliance procedures in staff areas and throughout the resort.

The resort has begun purchasing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including face masks and full protective suits to be used if needed. The laws in Grenada now dictate that face masks must be worn in public areas at all times.

To adhere to social distancing measures, the number of guests in facilities will be limited, while external extensions are being built for staff changing rooms, the staff restaurant and staff arrival and departure checkpoints.

In compliance with new guidelines, two room attendants will clean each occupied guestroom with approved chemicals. All public spaces will be cleaned every 15-30 minutes, while touchless hand sanitizing stations will be positioned throughout the resort.

The resort has also made the decision to reopen without the service of the kids club and has suspended babysitting services. All services at the spa will be offered except body treatments.

Buffets will be eliminated and guests will be expected to wear face masks at the bar and in restaurants when communicating with employees. Paperless options are also being explored.

Zadun, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Puerto Los Cabos, Mexico will be reopening its doors on July 1. The hotel has enhanced its already stringent guidelines for cleanliness, and measures have been implemented that align with protocols by the Baja California Sur Government and Marriott International. It’s home to 115 guestrooms and suites, many of which feature individual pools and terraces, as well as the 30,000 square-foot Spa Alkemia and four food and beverage venues. It also provides direct access to the Puerto Los Cabos Golf Course, located adjacent to the hotel.
