Vietnam Airlines has confirmed a data breach involving a third-party customer service platform operated by one of its global technology partners.
The airline is among several international companies affected by the incident, which may have exposed certain customer data processed through the platform.
According to the airline, the breach did not impact its internal IT systems, and sensitive information such as payment details, passwords, travel itineraries, Lotusmiles balances and passport data remains secure.
Upon learning of the issue, Vietnam Airlines worked with relevant authorities, cybersecurity experts and its third-party partner to investigate the situation, evaluate any potential risks and reinforce data protection measures.
Customers whose information may have been involved are being notified and offered support. The airline is advising travellers to be vigilant for possible phishing attempts, suspicious emails or phone calls claiming to be from Vietnam Airlines, and to avoid sharing personal information, one-time passcodes or login credentials with unverified sources.
Vietnam Airlines expressed regret for any concern caused by the incident and reaffirmed that safeguarding customer data remains a top priority.
