Grupo Piñero has officially opened Cayo Levantado Resort, giving vacationers an exciting new option in the Dominican Republic.

Situated on an island just five kilometres from the Samaná Peninsula, the 218-room resort was inaugurated during a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by Grupo Piñero’s President and Founder, Isabel García Lorca, and Encarna Piñero, Executive Vice President and CEO.

According to Grupo Piñero, the resort is rooted in a three-pronged approach to the guest experience, respect for and protection of the environment, and celebration of local culture. It offers 218 rooms ranging from Junior Suites to private villas that accommodate up to eight people, each inspired by the natural beauty of the country, plus six restaurants that serve Mediterranean, fusion Nikkei, a steakhouse and traditional Dominican cuisine.

Focusing on wellness, the resort offers a wide selection of activities and offerings designed to ‘Refresh, Restore, Relax and Renew,’ including physical training therapies, spa treatments, nutritionist-curated menus and meditation sessions designed by wellness professionals. Tailored workshops and programs are also available in ‘Yubarta,’ a unique space that’s been seamlessly integrated within the gardens of the resort.

At the core of Cayo Levantado Resort’s ethos is sustainability, which Grupo Piñero has embraced across all aspects of the property. The resort features a water production and bottling plant, has eliminated the need for paper during the check-in process, and has implemented a cutting-edge room control system called ‘RoomXperience’ that allows guests to monitor their real-time energy consumption through controls for lighting, presence detection, door and window sensors and temperature and humidity management. Grupo Piñero’s Eco-Bahia Foundation is also working with local non-governmental organizations such as CEBSE and FUNDEMAR to conserve and restore coral reefs in the surrounding area.
