Visit Malta
There’s always More to Explore on the islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino

There’s always More to Explore on the islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino – and Malta has been crowned the most LGBTQIA+ friendly country in Europe again – proof  if any were needed – that everyone is welcome in Malta.

The rankings are compiled by ILGA Europe, a body that monitors equal rights in Europe. They awarded Malta an overall score of 92% – meaning it topped the rankings for a seventh year. The table measures the equality of 49 European countries, taking into account how easy it is for LGBTQIA+ to live typical lives. It proved what many people who visit the country regularly know already – that Malta is one of the most friendly countries in Europe.

The biggest event in Malta’s LGBTQIA+ calendar is Pride, which takes place from September 2-11 this year and involves a whole host of events, initiatives and opportunities for the LGBTQIA+ community. The whole event is centred around raising awareness and celebrating diversity. There are events peppered throughout the period, including two Pride Marches, one in Gozo on September 3 and one in Valletta at the culmination of Malta Pride on September 10 – a party that you will not want to miss – including the Malta Pride Open Concert.

Those who have attended the event before will know that it’s a real party and next year will probably be the biggest yet – with Malta hosting EuroPride for the first time ever, from September 7-17, 2023.

As an agent, if you’ve got LGBTQIA+ clients looking for some late summer sun this year, then Malta is the perfect choice. The country enjoys about 3,000 hours of sun every year – one of the highest in Europe – has an abundance of history, beautiful beaches and enough activities to keep every member of the family entertained.

When it comes those seeking culinary delight, Malta has you covered. The country boasts five Michelin-star restaurants. ION – The Harbour is a must-try, having received a star in 2021 thanks to its skilfully prepared dishes, which use sublime seasonal local produce. The views across Valletta’s Grand Harbour make for the perfect backdrop. Visit Under Grain, a fellow star-holder, for fresh fish paired with immaculate sides.

The islands are also a paradise for wine enthusiasts, with the hot and humid climate producing excellent red and white vintages. Alongside popular international grape varieties, vineyards specialise in indigenous grapes Gellewza and Ghirghentina, which produce a distinct body and flavour. Clients can join guided vineyard tours and tastings across the islands.

Whatever your clients are looking for this summer, you can’t go wrong with Malta.
