The Mazatlán Tourism Board is gearing up for an exciting year indeed, with several new resorts and attractions set to open their doors.
In 2024, the Mexican city will welcome Dreams Estrella Del Mar Mazatlán, Golf & Spa Resort, Fiesta Americana Zona Dorada, and Nus Wyndham Garden Suites, among others. In addition, Mazatlán is poised to become a major player in the aerospace industry with the opening of the Mazatlán Aerospace Park, which will be the epicentre for research and development of Mexico’s aerospace industry.
“Mazatlán remains a preferred city for tourism in Mexico for visitors, who enjoy our beautiful beaches, gastronomy, attractions, and historic landmarks. Due to this reputation, we have seen a continued growth in investments in our city’s offerings,” said Estrella Palacios Domínguez, Secretary of Tourism for the State.
“We are excited to welcome new hotels, commercial plazas, and an aerospace park to Mazatlán’s growing portfolio of business and hospitality brands. We are confident that these new partnerships will continue to establish Mazatlán as top-of-mind among visitors from North American and beyond,” she added.
According to the Municipal Government of Mazatlán, the projects being developed this year in the city amassed an initial investment of about US$817 million. In 2023, Mazatlán worked on 45 projects, of which 64% were related to the tourism-real estate industry.
The hotels opening in 2024 are tapped to add 900 rooms to the city’s hospitality portfolio. Most notably, Dreams Estrella Del Mar Mazatlán Golf & Spa Resort is expected to open in April with eight on-site restaurants and an 18-hole golf course, while Nus Wyndham Garden Suites will debut in Q2 in the new Marina Mazatlán neighbourhood. In addition. Grupo Posadas will open Fiesta Americana Mazatlán this year, as well as two new hotels under the InterContinental Hotel Groups brand in the Golden Zone and the Marina Mazatlán.
Adding to Mazatlán’s tourism offerings will be the inauguration of the NUS Suites & Plaza commercial centre, featuring new restaurants, bars and shopping stores on the ground floor of the Nus Wyndham Garden Suites property.

As for The Mazatlán Aerospace Park, the new facility is expected to begin operations in January, positioning the city as a leading global investment destination in aerospace manufacturing. Located 10 minutes from Mazatlán’s Historic District, it will conduct maintenance and repairs of aircraft, host a cargo terminal, as well as house a laboratory for research and new developments that will allow for testing of experimental flights.
These new developments follow the debut of Gran Acuario Mazatlán ‘Mar de Cortés,’ the largest aquarium in Mexico and considered one of the most important in Latin America. Located within walking distance of the popular 12-mile-long boardwalk that lines the Pacific Ocean coast, the aquarium highlights the biodiversity found in the Sea of Cortez and was declared a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2015.
