Carlsbad is situated on California's southern coastline, approximately a 45-minute drive from San Diego. It is also located 45 minutes south of SNA and 1.5 hours south of LAX. The city is easily accessible via California's commuter rail, the COASTER, which has two stops in Carlsbad along its San Diego-Oceanside route. 

Carlsbad is a pedestrian-friendly destination with conveniently located hotels, businesses and other attractions, making it possible to explore the area without a car. The city is divided by the Interstate 5 (I-5) freeway, which runs through it and separates it into distinct sections.

Meanwhile, the eastern part of Carlsbad has seven miles of pristine beaches and outdoor activities, including watersports, Carlsbad Premium Outlets, Batiquitos Lagoon, Aquafarm and Carlsbad Village, which offers a variety of attractions, including shopping, dining, arts and culture, and a farmers market. Also, Carlsbad Village is home to a Michelin-starred restaurant called Jeune et Jolie. The restaurant serves French-inspired food in a rose-colored space with lots of natural light.
