New policy aims to enhance passenger experience and convenience on Copa Airlines flights

Copa Airlines offers its passengers the option to purchase an extra seat for those who require it, either to obtain greater comfort throughout their trip or to be able to place a special item as carry-on baggage in that seat.

 

Below you will find the general terms and conditions:

  • Passengers must pay 100% of the applicable fare for the seat (purchase of the extra seat, applicable to the portion of the trip in which the seat will be used).
  • Passengers who require an extra seat, must request the assignment of both seats, both for the original ticket and the "extra seat", to ensure contiguous availability of both seats.
    • If the fare purchased for the extra seat is a Basic Economy fare, there will be an additional charge for seat selection, as well as for the original ticket.
  • Passengers who require an extra seat for the comfort of their pet, service, or emotional support dog must ensure that they are not placed on the seats. They must be placed on the floor in front of their assigned seat and may not occupy aisle space.
  • All customers must be able to easily raise and lower the armrests of their seats to ensure a comfortable and safe flight for all passengers on board.
  • Checked baggage allowances are set according to the number of seats purchased.
    • If two seats are purchased, the corresponding baggage allowance applies.
    • For passengers with PreferMember status, the free baggage allowance applies to the ticket associated with the frequent flyer number, while the second ticket is assigned the baggage allowance of the corresponding fare.
    • The carry-on baggage allowance is not doubled.
  • Passengers who purchase an extra seat for Cabin Baggage will not be able to pay for the service with discount coupons or travel certificates.
  • ConnectMiles members who purchase an extra seat are eligible to earn award miles equivalent to the fare purchased. Members will not receive qualifying miles or qualifying segments for the additional seat purchased or PreferMember benefits such as bonus miles.
    • To request crediting of Additional Seat award miles, the member must contact the ConnectMiles Service Center and provide the ticket number, flight date, flight number, origin, and destination.
    • Additional Seat award miles will be granted 15 days after the request is approved.

 

The extra seat may be requested through the sales offices (CTO) or Contact Center.
