Scandinavian Airlines
Each of the three inaugural flights, scheduled to take place in 2028, will offer 30 seats available for reservation, and all present an opportunity for travellers “to become part of aviation history”

Ticket sales for Scandinavian Airlines’ groundbreaking commercial electric flights – three flights in total, in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark – will open on June 2,  2023 at 6 a.m. EDT.

Each of the three inaugural flights, scheduled to take place in 2028, will offer 30 seats available for reservation, and all present an opportunity for travellers “to become part of aviation history.

SAS is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, and embracing technological innovations like electric aircraft for shorter trips plays a crucial role in reaching this goal. The introduction of electric flights represents a significant milestone in SAS’s journey towards sustainable aviation, says President and CEO of SAS, Anko van der Werff.

The fact that we can now invite our passengers to the next major milestone in the future of aviation is a natural continuation of that pioneering spirit and a significant step on our journey towards more sustainable aviation,” said van der Werff.

SAS was founded in 1946 and ever since the carrier has been at the forefront of pioneering endeavors in the airline industry. SAS was the first commercial airline to fly over the North Pole, revolutionizing flight durations between continents and earning the prestigious Columbus Prize.

Sweden’s government’s goal is to achieve net-zero emissions for domestic air transport by 2030. By 2045, the objective is to ensure that all international flights operating from Sweden maintain net-zero emissions.

To commemorate the inaugural flight, the ticket price will be 1946 SEK (approx. US$125), paying tribute to the year when SAS first began operating.

Reservations can be made starting from June 2, 2023 at 6 a.m. EDT at flysas.com/electric.
